For Phil, fitness is the key to survival
A year ago, Phil arrived in Adelaide and was staying in a backpackers just to keep off the streets. Like many people experiencing hardship, his immediate focus was survival, not health, fitness, or long-term wellbeing.
“I wasn’t in good shape,” Phil says. “My balance was terrible, my legs felt weak, and I lived with a constant fear of falling.”
Your support can rebuild lives
Everything began to change when Phil found connection and support through a Reclink Australia fitness program. With encouragement from his trainer Hannah, and a welcoming, inclusive environment, Phil began rebuilding his strength, confidence and independence.
“One day I dropped something on the floor and bent down to pick it up without thinking, no pain, no fear,” Phil says. “It might seem small, but to me, it was massive.”
